What Our Reader Say’s
As a mom to a pre-teen, "Nurturing Effective Parent-Teen Communication and Life Skills" was a perfect read for me to prepare me for what's to come. This book is made for parents dealing with the difficult challenges of raising teenagers. Sarah Hernon provides tons of practical strategies and really helpful advice. What I also love about this book is it offers a roadmap to bridge the communication gap between parent and teen. She also shows you how to create meaningful connections when you feel your child slowly drifting away. Hernon emphasizes the importance of balance with your teen. She also gives parents tons of tools to handle conflicts and create mutual understanding between parent and teen. If you're dealing with difficult behavior or just seeking to strengthen your connection with your teen, this book is for you!
Marnie DavidFostering healthy parent-teen relationships!
First, I wish the author had a shorter title-this one is about a paragraph long. Other than that, the topics and chapters have some valuable information. I think more solid examples, broken down in steps, with additional real life scenarios would increase the value to parents. Teens can be overwhelming and the journey of hormonal changes is uncharted waters-not only for first teen kids but every teen kid is different. I felt this book might be okay for a parent of a preteen to read before the teen years-but in the midst of actual teen years-this one might be lacking a bit. It seems like an advice book with few strategies
Mimi2016Lots of advice but needs more strategies to apply
I think this book, Nurturing Effective Parent-Teen Communication, is so important nowadays to read and be able to find healthy ways to talk with your children. It’s so easy to get frustrated when your child starts to withdraw, but this book gives advice on how to reconnect, have meaningful conversations, and create a bond that will only strengthen. I know one of my aunts will love this book as she has twins in high school who are always so busy with homework, sports, school functions, and friends to find ways to make time for one-on-one bonding time that will sure to be impactful with my cousins.

AvidReaderAn Incredible Parent Resource
I liked how this book goes beyond the basics, such as how to have meaningful conversations and increase a child’s independence. My favorite parts of the book were the practical tips on teen communication – something that I’ve found difficult the older my teen gets. The author gives effective advice on connecting with your teen.
Ollie P. This is a must-read for teen parents
